The Oaklands Equine Clinic is fully equipped to diagnose and treat all medical and surgical diseases and injuries.

From the clinic we provide specialist referral and emergency treatment for horses from all over the North of England including the Borders and Scotland. With an on-site vet we are one of the few clinics able to provide 24 hours a day care for your horse.

The jewel in our crown is our brand new and purpose built operating theatre, which allows us to provide the absolute care for our surgical patients. It is equipped with separate specifically padded induction and recovery rooms, a hydraulic padded table designed exactly for surgery on horses.

We also have the ability to monitor your horse’s vital signs (ETCO2, direct and indirect arterial blood pressure, ECG, and SPO2) allowing us to accurately and safely anaesthetize your horse.

Oaklands can offer a complete diagnostic service for upper airway problems. We are equipped with a brand new endoscope at the clinic and can arrange overground endoscopy if required.

Overground endoscopy is a brand new technology that is revolutionizing our ability to diagnose upper airway disease (wind problems). We place a scope up the horse’s nose and attach it to the horse so that a continuous picture can be observed as the horse moves. Horses can be galloped at full speed, ridden in an outline or made to do the exact exercises that produce the wind problem. The images can be viewed in realtime as the horse moves or recorded and viewed at a later date allowing for an accurate diagnosis. This allows the most suitable treatment to be performed and therefore increases the chances of success.
